Peter Beets - Peter Beets Trio: Our Love Is Here To Stay - Gershwin Reimagined

Agnes and I heard jazz pianist Peter Beets at Blues Alley in May of this year. He completely blew us away. We seldom stay for the second set at Blues Alley, but this guy was so good we couldn't leave. If you love jazz piano, check him out, he's remarkable.

Marcia Ball - Shine Bright

Marcia's latest CD. Produced by Steve Berlin (sax player for Los Lobos), this is a joyous and high energy record. Nine out of the 12 tunes are written or co-written by Marcia. My only problem is deciding which song is my favorite!

Teresa James & the Rhythm Tramps - Here In Babylon

The latest release from Teresa James & the Rhythm Tramps. With a voice somewhere between Janis and Bonnie and a band full of crack session players, trust me when I say you need to get hip to Teresa James. She was great long before I created her website...

Selwyn Birchwood - Don't Call No Ambulance

We recently heard Selwyn Birchwood. A great guitarist with a good vocal style, Selwyn plays an interesting mix of Funk, Blues and RnB. His CD is excellent and we look forward to seeing him perform again.

Quebe Sisters Band - Every Which-A-Way

The most remarkable discovery Agnes and I made in 2015. Wonderful three-part harmony (and you know siblings voices blend the best) along with award winning fiddle playing.

Michel Camilo - Michel Camilo

Our favorite jazz pianist. This is one of his earlier CDs, but it has returned to my CD player with a vegeance and has gotten a lot of repeat plays of late.

Tommy Emmanuel - Center Stage (DVD)

Tommy Emmanuel is considered one of the greatest acoustic guitarists in the world and this DVD demonstrates why the title is so richly deserved. The concert, filmed before a live audience, will convince you why you need to be in one of Tommy's audiences yourself. Highly recommended!

Rory Hoffman - Swing Expedition

Discovered at the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society(CAAS), Rory Hoffman is a blind guitarist who plays the instrument across his lap. While listening to his CD on the way home from CAAS, we were amazed to discover that he also play keyboards, reeds, mandolin, banjo and harmonica. The CD is worthy of purchase just for a samba version of Hank Williams "Oh Lonesome Me". Click "Swing Expedition" above and check it out.

Joscho Stephan - Django Nuevo

Another discovery at the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society (CAAS), Joscho Stephan is an amazing guitarist who plays in the Gypsy Jazz style of Django Reinhardt. A style of jazz (and guitar playing) that you may have never heard before.
